My name is Francys Herrera and I”m a fashion designer from Venezuela. I took the Weekly Fashion Course on making the 5 Piece Pattern Set and I learned so much. Not only was I able to make the slopers for my size, now I’m able to do make them in any size. The course included a size chart with the measurements for a Misses, and an easy to follow to follow step-by-step guide so I could easily recreate any size I want. After I finished the course I had a couple of days left in Miami, so I booked a few private classes and I made myself this beautiful dress pictured here using my slopers, and Ms. D’Oleos help and direction. Back in Venezuela, I have been using my 5 piece pattern set to create many styles for me and my clients.
My name is Julio Maldonado. I own Kalos Exclusive Designs, an atelier in North Carolina, for over three years now. Sewing and design was the only thing I wanted to do since I can remember. Regardless, I never got the opportunity to attend fashion school, not even to take informal sewing classes. So I was only working with what I heard. I was self-taught but very confused and had no idea about measurements or patterns for designs. I also had no idea of how to properly change the clients for my work or where to get wholesale fabrics and supplies for my business. I was working hard and long hours while getting nowhere with my business, not making money, and feeling very frustrated. I did not have the time, money or resources to attend a fashion college. I found the Fashion Institute of South Florida a few months ago after reading all the five-star reviews. As soon as I spoke with Ms. D’Oleo I knew I could learn a lot from her and her staff. I booked a two-week trip to Miami, and so far, it has been the best investment I’ve made. During my two-week vacation, I booked private classes in the mornings and took two weekly fashion courses in the afternoon. Not only did a learn A LOT, but I walked out with the resources I needed to grow my business, charge my customers fairly, and the confidence I needed. Now my business is profitable and growing so fast, now I need a bigger space and more help. Thank you, Ms. D’Oleo!
