7 weeks long. Meets once a week for 3 hours.

In this first of 2 levels, students will learn how to take the body measurements to make the bodysuit foundation pattern that fits correctly. From that foundation pattern, they can design any style of bathing suits, from one piece to two pieces. Then they will design, cut and sew a one-piece swimsuit with lining. Students will learn how to use the overlock machine and apply elastic and lining to the bathing suit.

After completion of level 2 students will receive a certificate of completion and can participate in the fashion show.

  • When class is full, interested students will be placed on a waiting list.

Materials List

  • Mandatory Pattern Making Kit $125.00 must be purchased at School.
  • 1 ½ yards of nylon spandex blend or polyester/ nylon
  • 1 yard of any printed nylon spandex blend or polyester fabric you will like to make a one-piece bathing suit or two-piece bathing suits.
  • 1 yard of lining (to line the bathing suits), which matches the color fabric.
  • 5 yards of elastic of ¼ width.
  • 3 all-purpose threads that match the color of the fabric.
