1 week long. Monday – Friday. 10 am to 4 pm
*Basic sewing skills on both regular and over lock/serger machines are required. Refer to our Sewing 101 and Over-lock 101 workshop before signing for this course.
The swimwear category of the fashion industry has been growing very fast in the past few years.
Bathing suits are made out of knit and stretch fabrics. Patterns and sewing techniques are different from woven fabrics. We start the class by explaining the difference between knit and woven fabrics, knit fabric properties, stretch and recovery factors and how they affect the fit of the garment.
Students will learn how to take and use body measurements to make the bodysuit foundation pattern with a correct fit. From that foundation pattern, they can design any style of bathing suits, from one piece to two pieces. Students will then design, cut and sew a one-piece swimsuit with lining. Students will learn how to use the overlock machine and apply elastic and lining to the bathing suit.
Certification of completion included.
After registration, students will get a complete course syllabus and supplies list for this course
