PATTERN-MAKING/GARMENT CONSTRUCTION – 6 MONTHS

This 6-month course was created to address the industry's need for professionals with solid pattern making. The course is geared toward fashion/technical designers and other apparel industry personnel responsible for production and pattern development nationally and internationally. During the course, students will learn,

✔️How to take dress form/ body measurements

✔️How to draft all body slopers/ block/templates from specifications (tops, skirts, dresses, pants, etc.)

✔️How to develop patterns into advanced styles from the slopers/ block/ templates using the three pattern-making principles to create any design.

✔️How to finish and make production patterns

During the Garmen Construction sections, students will learn how to construct 20+ garments, from tops, dresses, skirts, pants, coats, gowns, and more, applying top industry techniques. During this course, students will learn:

✔️How to use industrial sewing machines.

✔️How to lay out fabrics and different cutting techniques.

✔️How to sew and finish a garment at a high industry standard.

✔️How to work with varying weights of fabric and textures - problem-solving.

✔️Experiment sewing with different types of fabrics.

✔️How to sew a garment with lining.

The techniques taught in this course give students the tools and knowledge to draft any pattern and make any garment and the ability to work for any women's fashion apparel company.

Crucial knowledge on how to draft pattern for woven fabrics, including pattern making tools and vocabulary.
How to create all pattern making slopers/ blocks/ master patterns using standard sizes.
How to take body measurements.
The 3 pattern making principles and how to apply them to any piece you design or copy.
How to draft patterns of dresses, skirt, top, pants, blouse and more.
How to create lining patterns for garment.
Bias cut garments.
How to sew using the best sewing techniques to make fine garments.
How to clean the garments inside using the different seam finishes.
How to make garment with lining.
How to make a bustier with boning.
At the end of this course, students will walk out with a complete set of slopers and over 20 samples of garment made, and they can use as reference for making their own designs
