How long have you been a design student and what got you interested in fashion?
I've been a design student for the past two years, developing an interest in fashion during a later stage in my life. It was only a couple of years ago that I conceived an idea for a pair of pants and decided to acquire the skills to bring my vision to life.
With the skills you’re gaining, what is the goal you’re looking to achieve?
My ultimate goal is to establish my own brand. The educational journey thus far has equipped me with the necessary skills to navigate the intricacies of the fashion industry business.
Did your initial intention shift as you’ve ventured through the learning process?
Initially, when I began the program, my primary objective was to learn the art of sewing. However, as I continued to explore and master new techniques, my fascination deepened, evolving into a compelling interest in every aspect of the industry, whether it be the business side, production, or pattern making. I aspire to attain proficiency in all these areas.
Where do you gain inspiration from?
A significant inspiration for my creative endeavors is derived from music. By immersing myself in a song, I can distill the emotions it evokes and translate them into the design of a garment.
What advice do you have for students studying fashion design or looking to start?
In my opinion, one of the most valuable pieces of advice is to maintain consistency. If you aspire to excel, repetition and continuous effort are key. Through dedicated practice, one can evolve into a seasoned professional in their craft.
